Formally trained in New York City and fire-tested in the underworld of Hong Kong cinema, Jack has taken a colorful path that is defined by a mix of cultural influences.
Jack’s works include theatrical feature films, popular TV drama series, and commercials for international clients - many of which received festival recognitions for cinematography. They are often known for his unique blend of inventive “camera Kung-fu” of the East and meticulous visual language of the West.
During the 2010’s, Jack had a prolific decade in the booming Chinese film industry where he had the opportunity to work with many industry masters. Namely, he shot for Oscar-winning DP Peter Pau, HKSC and legendary director Wong Kar-wai in epic drama series “Blossoms”. He experimented with stereoscopic 3D camera technology in horror feature film “The Mirror 3D”. His period spy thriller series "Fearless Whispers" received nation-wide popularity. His latest work is a sequel to Netflix crime thriller series “Day and Night”.
Jack is a graduate of Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, where he received two Excellence in Cinematography Awards. He then further pursued his craft at the prestigious FAMU conservatory in Czech Republic.
Jack is now based in Los Angeles.
